Many people are in love with it and for several reasons. Vintage weddings are so popular because people are exhausted of seeing always the same things at weddings.
On the other hand if you like the retro style but you want to keep the tradition, you can always have a modern wedding with a touch of antique and vintage. That's exactly what one of my colleagues did last year, and it was a lovely wedding ceremony.
Originally she wanted to have a retro wedding, but her family was very conservative and they told her that they would want to organize a more traditional wedding for their daughter. In fact they preferred having a modern wedding, without anything too strange. My friend understood that her parents weren't as open minded as he, but she didn't want to give up the retro theme. In the end they decided to have a modern vintage wedding.
I attended the wedding: it was wonderful and everyone was happy. The decorations were retro and so were the invitations, but the music was both modern and vintage. They played modern pop songs, jazz and even some swing music.
The dress of the bride was a modern vintage inspired gown: it was long, made of silk and satin with embroideries around the hemline. She looked beautiful in it. She also decided to wear a few vintage accessories: cream colored lace gloves and a lace parasol. They gave up the idea to hire a retro car and they had a modern limousine instead.
After the wedding she told me that it was a good idea to have a modern retro wedding, because nothing was too unusual and all the guest could enjoy themselves. Modern vintage weddings are perfect for those who want to have something special but who prefer to keep the traditional ways.
