Whenever I go to my aunt, she shows me her collection of vintage photos.
She loves the antique style and even more the retro: she goes to flea markets and antique shops every time she has the opportunity and buys old photos. Some people don't understand why she has such a passion for the vintage style and retro photos, but I do.
I just love to look at her collection and see her new founds. It amazes me that even though in those times making photos wasn't as easy as now, people look so natural on the photographs. Today you can buy great cameras and almost everybody has one, but the old photos still seem to be nicer than the contemporary ones.
There are so many kinds of vintage photographs. My aunt categorizes them and I especially love her collection of photos of vintage wedding gowns. People of the 20th century had a lot of style and elegance, and they also had a better taste than people do nowadays.
Some of the old wedding gowns still have an elegant Edwardian look, while others are very simple and adorable. Non of the wedding dresses seem tacky and exaggerated like many of them do nowadays. My favorite photograph of women wearing retro wedding gowns was one from the early 1910s.
The women really looks like a lady in the photo, with a long and full ivory colored gown made of lace and probably silk. The dress looks really full and I always like to imagine myself in it.
Retro photos are very romantic and they look nice on the wall. If one day I will have my own place, I will surely buy a few retro photos and frame them. That way I can admire the photos of vintage wedding gowns all day.
